General Information
Don Bosco High School, Oros Is an English medium school run by the Salesians of Don Bosco.
The school is a permanently unaided private English medium school and does not receive any grant from the government.
This Institution is primarily for Catholics, established and administered by the Catholic Church but it is open to all irrespective of religion, caste or creed.
It caters primarily to the Catholic community and the preservation of the Catholic faith and religious practices. Keeping this in view classes in religion are conducted and it is obligatory for Catholic children to attend them. However, value education classes are conducted for all.
The school aims at providing an all-round education to its students by promoting various fields of interest such as games and sports, music and singing, elocution and dramatics, outing and excursion, social service, activity clubs, guidance and counselling facilities, and so on.
Parents are expected to co-operate fully in the task of education by seeing to the regular studies of the child and by encouraging him/her to participate inthe activities of the school. Attendance at school functions such as Annual Day, Sports Day and all other school functions are compulsory.
Great stress is laid on punctuality, regular attendance and discipline. Absencewithout prior permission on the first day of class after any vacation is considered a serious offence and will be liable to fine.
The school conducts certain drives for funds for charitable / educational causes during the year. Kindly note that no child or parents is ever compelled to donate towards these funds. Any
contribution should be made out of sheer good will and bearing in mind the purpose of the collection which is always clearly announced before hand and duly carried out afterwards.
The school is recognized by the Government of Maharashtra and as such is subject to the inspection of the Inspector of Schools and is under the control of the Education Department.
The school lays as much emphasis on character formation based on the loveof God and the service of man as modelled on the Person of Jesus Christ as an excellence in all school subjects.
We, the Salesians of Don Bosco High School, Oros, in keeping with the core principles of Don Bosco aim to create an educative environment where learning is defined by the child’s inherent desire to learn, inspired by the philosophy of love, joy and faith and guided by the pedagogical system of Don Bosco. We envision our students growing up physically, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually and thus prepared to take their place as responsible adults, contributing responsibly to the growth of a free, equal and fraternal society.

Johnny Bosco, popularly known as Don Bosco, was born in 1815 at Becchi,a village near Turin, Italy. Though orphaned at the age of two, he made heroic sacrifices and through dint of hard work -often working and studying at the sametime – he acquired education and became a priest in 1841. The plight of countless boys and girls, orphaned through the long wars of Italian Unification, moved him. Spurning very lucrative and prestigious offers, he decided to dedicate himself to the service of the youth, especially the poor and underprivileged by offering them acceptance, food, lodging and education.
He gathered the boys in public places for the weekends. To those without homes, he started giving shelter. Soon makeshift homes sprang up to accommodate the huge number of youngsters who saw in him a ray of hope. The most significant achievement of Don Bosco was his contribution to the concept and practice of education. The educator loves the youth like an elder brother/sister, father/mother. He/she teaches them by sharing his/her life, beliefs and knowledge with them. Don Bosco’s ‘Preventive System’ respects every young person, even the lowliest and the ‘hopeless’ among them; the educator appeals to their sense of reason, creates a loving and safe environment and instils in them a sense of the Divine.
Today, Don Bosco’s followers known as Salesians of Don Bosco, continue to keep alive hope and cheer in the hearts of millions of young people. Don Bosco institutions are spread over 130 countries around the globe. Over 2300 Salesians work with youth in 370 centres across India.
